Antenatal Clinic

This is held at our Molineux Street Surgery on Tuesday 9.00am-12 noon and 1.00-3.00pm.
Patients are seen by the midwife at the clinics by appointment. Once your pregnancy is confirmed, please see a GP for referral to the midwife.

Baby Clinic

This is held at our Molineux Street Surgery on Tuesday 1.30pm-3.00pm (last patient 2.45pm).

The baby clinics are run by our health visitors for child development checks and immunisations and allow an opportunity to discuss other problems, eg sleeping, feeding and child health worries, with a health visitor.

Please only bring well babies to this clinic. You can phone our health visitors on the surgery’s usual number 0191 275 5740.

Diabetic clinic

The diabetic clinic is held on Thurday mornings and is run by the practice nurse in conjunction with Dr Jackson, by appointment only.

Family Planning

Dr Roanna Gray and Dr Watson fit coils and fit and remove contraceptive implants. Please make an appointment with either for a consultation prior to fitting. All other contraceptive advice is given by all GPs and the practice nurses will see women for pill checks and depot injections in any of their routine clinics if they are already established on the method and experiencing no problems.

Minor Surgery

We have established a clinic to carry out minor surgical procedures including vasectomies by appointment. Our doctors will be happy to advise you on this.

Non-NHS Work

Insurance Certificate, Forms, Letters etc.
If you have a form which needs to be signed by the doctor, please leave it with the receptionist. There will be a charge to pay. For most forms there is no need to see the doctor to have them completed; the receptionist will advise you. Please note that due to the high volume of paper work, you should allow two weeks for their completion.

HGV, PSV, and Other Non-NHS Medicals

These require an appointment with the doctor. Please arrange this in good time. A fee as recommended by the BMA will be payable for these examinations. A non-refundable £10 deposit is taken at the time of booking the appointment.

Counselling

Thornfield Medical Group is fortunate to have a very experienced counsellor who attends our surgery on a Tuesday and Thursday. Please see your doctor for further information.

Patients 75 Years And Over

If you are 75 years of age or over, you should be seen annually, either by your doctor, the practice nurse, the district nurse or the health visitor. This can be arranged at the surgery or a home visit will be arranged for our housebound patients.

Travel Clinic

Please make an appointment at least six weeks prior to your holiday to ensure adequate cover. A charge will be made for certain immunisations and vaccinations which are not covered by the NHS. A list of these charges is held at reception.

Flu Vaccination

An influenza vaccination is particularly recommended for patients with heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes, residents of nursing and rest homes and patients over 65.

Please contact the reception staff in September for details of the vaccination dates and to make an appointment.
