How Do I...
Make An Appointment?

Appointments may be made by telephoning 0191 275 5740 or by calling at the surgery. A routine appointment is for 10 minutes and is for one person and one problem. Please do not save up several problems for one appointment. If you know you will be longer please ask for a double slot.

Please arrive on time for your appointment. If you are more than 15 minutes late, you will not be seen and will have to arrange another appointment.

Please let us know if you cannot keep your appointment; we will then be able to offer it to another patient.

If you fail to attend two or more appointments without advising us, then you may be asked to leave this practice and find another GP.

Please inform our administration team if you need an interpreter so this can be arranged. Please note that family members are not suitable as interpreters.

Urgent Appointments

If you have a problem that needs to be seen urgently, you will be asked to come to the surgery at a particular time and you will be slotted in when gaps become available. Only your urgent issue can be dealt with at this time. This may result in a wait of over 90 minutes, although we will make every effort to get you seen more quickly, especially in the case of babies and the very elderly. Your patience is requested and please remember it is not the fault of the reception staff if undue delays occur. Alternatively, you could access NHS Direct or the Walk-in Centre which is situated directly above us in the Molineux Street surgery. (The Walk-in Centre will not see children under two years of age.)

How Do I...
Obtain Telephone Advice?

If you believe your problem can be dealt with over the phone, you can arrange for your doctor to call you. Please give the receptionist a brief summary of your problem and how to contact you. Please be sure your telephone allows for incoming calls from a switchboard, otherwise we cannot be held responsible if we are unable to contact you.

How Do I...
Obtain A Home Visit?

Requests for visits must be made before 10.00am and visiting will normally take place after morning surgery. Please only request home visits if you are incapable of attending the surgery. Whenever possible, try and come into the surgery as facilities here are far better for examination and treatment. It helps us to judge the urgency of the call if you describe your symptoms. The receptionists are trained to deal with your calls so do expect to be asked. All information is confidential. The doctor may telephone prior to, or instead of, visiting. Visits requested later in the day are reserved for the housebound but unless considered urgent will not be seen that day. Ring early if you wish to request a routine call if you are housebound. Sick children will always be seen as soon as possible if brought into the surgery, as it is not appropriate for them to wait for a visit. We rarely visit children at home as a responsible adult should be available to bring them to surgery.

How Do I...
Obtain Test Results?

Test results and letters from local hospitals have to be checked by the doctor. Therefore please telephone for results in the afternoon. Some tests take longer than others. Your doctor should be able to give you an idea of how long you are likely to wait.
